Jim Aiken

Jim Aiken has nearly 30 years of experience helping industrial, energy, and government clients solve complex environmental review (EA, EAW, EIS), permitting, and site development issues. Jim’s areas of expertise include water supply investigations and integrated soil and groundwater contamination for permitting of large capital projects. His experience covers a unique breadth and depth of services, including Phase I environmental assessments, Phase II environmental site investigations, brownfields redevelopment, and solid-waste investigation and permitting. He also works on facility compliance, economic analysis, and expert testimony for litigation support.

Jim recently co-authored a Barr white paper addressing concerns about potential water-quality degradation related to the use of settling agents at silica sand mines.

Jim also recently presented a paper entitled “Exploring Environmental Impacts Related to Frac Sand Mining and Processing” at the Frac Sand Mining: Legal and Environmental Issues conference in Eagan, Minnesota.
