Summary

The person selected for this position will work on projects with a diverse team of engineers and scientists and will assist with or lead water resources/civil engineering projects.

Project work may include both municipal and industrial stormwater management and planning; MS4 permitting; planning and design of domestic and industrial water treatment systems; design of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure; development of plans and specifications for construction; working with permitting agencies and public officials; hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; floodplain delineation and analysis; and other water resources-related design (hydraulic structures, open channels, swales, pipes, water control structures, ponds, etc.).

Assignments may also include involvement with or supervision of GIS and CADD work, and report writing. The work may at times involve short-term, out-of-town assignments either in the field or in another office.

NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste-disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided.


Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in civil or environmental engineering, with emphasis on civil/water resources design
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • 10 years of civil engineering experience
  • Task and project management experience
  • Extensive practical experience with the development of civil design projects, including permitting, preparation of plans and specifications, construction oversight, etc.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements surrounding water resources management and surface water discharge
  • Water and wastewater infrastructure project development and design
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and hydrologic analysis; site development design, plans and specifications; open channel and pipe flow analysis
  • Broad familiarity with stormwater quality best management practices
  • Working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, GIS, and CADD software
  • Experience with client relationship management and proposal development
  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • More than 12 years of civil/water resources engineering experience
  • Extensive civil design project management experience
  • Strong technical skills in a wide range of water resources and civil engineering topics
  • Expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, NPDES discharge regulations, sediment transport issues, watershed management, hydraulic structures, bank stabilization, water and wastewater infrastructure design and construction oversight
  • Experience in business development and client management, including proposal management and development
  • Ability to travel and work internationally
