Summary

Typical project assignments include: basic engineering computations (e.g., area, volume, discharge rate) and technical analysis, including spreadsheet and GIS-based data analysis; hydraulic and/or hydrologic model input data collection and preparation; field data collection; mapping; and site surveys and construction observation.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Civil engineering student with a demonstrated interest in water resources
  • GPA of 3.2 minimum, but 3.5 or higher is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, and clients
  • One semester of chemistry, two semesters of physics, and three semesters of mathematics
  • At least one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate course work remaining after internship is complete
  • A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, and organized approach
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


NOTE: Some project work may require operating on locations with rough terrain typical of construction sites, and working on tall structures and industrial equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to being assigned work on these sites. In addition, some project work may require entering and working on sites containing hazardous substances. For work on these sites, an OSHA-mandated physical exam will be required. Other assignments may require the use of respiratory equipment.
