The person selected for this position will work on ecosystem restoration and water resources management projects such as park design, campus master planning, trails and open space design, innovative stormwater treatment design, native plant community restoration, and natural resource management planning. Project work will integrate sustainable landscape design principles and traditional landscape architecture.

The successful candidate will assist Barr’s landscape architects, civil engineers, and natural-resources group with a variety of design and planning projects. Much of the work will involve assisting with the production of plans, renderings, sections, perspectives, and info-graphics. The position offers an opportunity to contribute and learn as part of a progressive and innovative design team that provides landscape architecture, landscape ecology, and environmental planning services to our clients.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or Environmental Design
  • Understanding of plant communities and planting plans
  • Ability to create detailed and attractive renderings, section/elevations, infographics, and diagrams for client and public presentation
  • Demonstrated talent for document layout, graphical design, and presentation creation
  • Interest in working towards professional registration
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail
  • A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, and clients
  • Familiarity with landscape and engineering design drawings, construction documents, and construction specifications
  • Experience with AutoCAD and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of GIS principles
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering or related scientific or technical discipline
  • One to three years of professional experience in landscape design
  • Ability to draft, design, and detail landscape construction elements
  • Experience writing technical specifications
  • Experience preparing design and construction cost estimates
  • Demonstrated ability to present projects to internal and external clients
  • Proficiency and significant experience with design software
  • Proficiency with GIS tools
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk 3ds Max, or similar artistic rendering software
