Summary

The intern in this position will take on challenging and progressive work on projects involving data collection, planning, and problem-solving in the civil engineering field. Project responsibilities may include surveying, concrete and soils testing, water quality sampling, data collection at wells and water bodies, erosion control inspection, construction observation, sampling and testing equipment preparation, data reduction, spreadsheet preparation, CADD, assistance with construction plans and specifications, and assistance with report preparation.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing an AA or AS degree in civil technology or related field
  • GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or higher
  • Basic mathematical and computer skills
  • Ability and willingness to participate in field work
  • Comfortable working on and around water bodies
  • At least one full-time semester remaining after internship
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
  • Thorough and organized approach to work, attention to detail, and the ability to work within a team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word
  • Survey experience
  • Erosion control inspection training and experience
  • Construction observation and documentation experience
  • Experience in developing, using and interpreting construction and site development plans
  • GIS skills and experience
