Summary

This position will involve work on projects with a diverse team of engineers and scientists, completing water resources/civil engineering and related technical assignments. Project work may include: site development design, completing plans and specifications for construction, working with permitting agencies and public officials, storm water planning, hydrologic runoff modeling and hydraulic analysis, water-resources design (hydraulic structures, open channels, swales, pipes, water control structures, ponds, etc.). Assignments may also include involvement with or supervision of GIS and CADD work, report writing, and spreadsheet work. The work may at times involve short-term, out-of-town assignments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in civil/environmental engineering, with emphasis on water resources/civil design
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, open channel and pipe flow, and earthwork and grading plans
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets, and a working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic computer modeling, GIS, and CADD software
  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience
  • PE certification or ability to obtain PE certification within one year
  • Strong technical skills in a wide range of civil engineering topics
  • Experience with hydrologic analysis; site development design, plans and specifications; open channel and pipe flow analysis; hydraulic structures; bank stabilization and stream restoration; floodplain analysis and mapping; dam and levee analysis and design
  • Proficiency with GIS and CADD (AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D) software
  • Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software
  • Large project design experience (e.g. site and roadway design, stormwater management facilities, large hydraulic structures including dams and levees), including preparation of plans and specifications
  • Construction observation, field work, and surveying experience


NOTE: Must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites, and within facilities that feature limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided.
