Summary

The person selected for this position will work on projects involving coordination of field activities, data collection and problem-solving. Project responsibilities may include construction observation, sampling equipment preparation and monitoring, data reduction, spreadsheet preparation, design using CADD modeling software, assistance with the preparation of construction plans and specifications, and assistance with report preparation. Project work may also include reviewing monitoring databases, including near real-time operations, through local and remote connections and bench-test equipment before and after field installations and decommissions. The work will involve long-term field assignments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year technical certificate
  • Two years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Ability and willingness to conduct field work independently
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedules to meet deadlines and client needs
  • Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing 20 kilograms
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • Four or more years of experience working on projects directly related to the job responsibilities described above at an engineering or industrial workplace
  • Experience with geotechnical drilling and instrumentation installation procedures
  • Experience with communications systems and telemetry
  • Experience with photogrammetry and remote sensing
  • Experience in the operation and use of total station and GPS survey control hardware and/or software
  • Demonstrated proficiency using current versions of AutoCAD and Civil 3D or other CADD-based civil design software
  • Demonstrated familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software


NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and enter and work within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. A physical exam may be required; safety training will be provided.
