Summary

The person in this position will work on multi-discipline project teams serving mining, fuels, power and municipal clients. This person must be experienced in civil engineering design and analysis related to site layout, grading and drainage, mass earthwork, etc. Work will involve technical assignments including design with CADD modeling software, preparation of construction plans and specifications, spreadsheet preparation, site development design, report writing, large-report preparation, construction cost estimating, construction observation, and facility inspection. Assignments may also include working with permitting agencies and public officials.

The person in this position will also perform a strategic leadership role. Administrative responsibilities such as business development, project management, project planning and scheduling are also included with this strategic role. This person will also have the opportunity to serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level engineers to grow civil engineering expertise and project management skills by reviewing technical reports and providing guidance on operations-related tasks. The work may require travel for short-term, out-of-town work assignments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Five (5) years of experience, including civil design
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D or other CADD-based civil design software
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within one year
  • Flexible working style, self-initiative, self-motivation, and a willingness to work with teams to meet clients' needs and project schedules
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of related work experience
  • Familiarity with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software


NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Job assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
