Summary

Barr is seeking a CADD Technician to join its Salt Lake City, Utah, team to undertake challenging and progressive work on engineering projects involving data collection, planning, and problem solving. The person selected for this position will work on multi-discipline project teams, providing computer-aided drafting expertise using AutoCAD on a Windows platform. Typical duties consist of working with engineers to create, update, and revise engineering drawings of industrial civil, mechanical, electrical, and/or structural systems.

Project responsibilities include developing and managing project CAD files including 2D and 3D geometry for engineering design and construction drawings. This may include but is not limited to producing general arrangement, single-line, isometric, or other styles of drawings. Additional responsibilities may include determining quantities for cost estimating and report preparation, construction observation, surveying, and monitoring.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above
  • 1 year of experience directly related to the job responsibilities described above
  • Proficiency using current versions of AutoCAD
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative
  • A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience directly related to job responsibilities described above
  • Experience in the consulting industry
  • Experience with Civil 3D, CADWorx, and similar AutoCAD packages
  • Familiarity with software packages including additional drafting packages such as Revit, MicroStation, Geopak, ArcGIS, Excel, and word processing software
  • Familiarity with work in an industrial environment and basic knowledge of various industrial disciplines and industrial construction


NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
