Summary

The person in this position will lead project teams and be involved in office leadership and strategic planning and implementation. Project work will entail civil engineering and related technical assignments including project management, civil l design and analysis, construction plans and specifications preparation, spreadsheet preparation, site-development design, report writing, construction cost estimating, construction observation, and facility inspections. Assignments may include working with regulators and public officials. Junior staff mentoring and business development will also be part of this person’s role. Work may at times involve short-term out-of-town assignments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in civil engineering or related degree
  • 7 years of relevant civil engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification or ability to obtain within one year
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel and work outside of Canada
  • Flexible working style, self-initiative, self-motivation, and a willingness to work with teams to meet clients' needs and project schedules
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written English communication skills
  • Demonstrated project organization and management skills
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada and the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years of relevant civil engineering experience
  • Related (e.g. geotechnical, structural) engineering experience and education
  • MS in civil engineering or closely related discipline
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D or other CADD-based civil design software
  • Demonstrated strong client-relationship and business-development skills
  • Demonstrated staff coaching and mentoring skills


NOTE: Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and facilities that have limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. A physical exam may be required; safety training will be provided.
