The person in this position will work in our Minneapolis office as part of our Corporate Accounting group. This individual plays a key role in our general ledger, reporting, and financial planning efforts. The work will be completed for a variety of staff members, from entry- and mid-level employees to our management team and board of directors. An emphasis on problem-solving, client service, and accurate work will be crucial.

Specific duties will include

  • Responsibility for all general ledger activities in a multi-company and multi-currency environment. This includes coordinating periodic and year-end closing activities, reconciling key general ledger accounts, and preparing periodic and year-end journal entries as input to the general ledger.
  • Preparing all internally generated company financial statements required for external reporting, including the balance sheet, income statement, aging reports, borrowing base certificate, and periodic financial ratio reporting required for bank covenants.
  • Responsibility for internal reporting to support management and business unit needs. For example, the person will prepare reports directly from our accounting systems along with ad hoc reporting using query tools and spreadsheets. At times, this individual may also be asked to help users interpret and use the information provided in the reports.
  • Assisting with our annual business planning and budgeting processes, including gathering and summarizing input from the business units and business support subunits, setting up and maintaining overhead and capital budgets, and other system maintenance activities as needed.
  • Assisting with maintaining our internal financial dashboard, which is accessible to all staff.
  • Assisting with corporate tax-related data request and tax return preparation, including state and local sales tax, use tax, and provincial tax returns.
  • Participating on the Accounting leadership team
  • Completing a variety of other, related tasks as requested

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with a minimum of five years of general ledger and financial reporting experience OR Associates Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 10 years of general ledger and financial reporting experience
    • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Strong, practical knowledge of accounting theory and practices related to foreign currencies
    • Demonstrated super-user Excel skills
    • Strong user skills in other Microsoft tools – Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
    • Experience working with query-based tools that require knowledge of database structures, tables, joins, and criteria statements
    • Strong customer service orientation
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills
    • Proven commitment to providing work that is accurate and complete with appropriate attention to detail
    • A flexible working style, able to work independently and in teams
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
    • Acceptable driving record

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with Deltek Vision
    • Work experience in a professional services organization
    • Work experience in a project accounting-based environment
    • Experience with applying tax principles and practices for businesses
