Summary

Barr is seeking a human resources associate to join its Minneapolis office. The human resources associate is part of a rotation program designed to give cross-functional HR exposure to staff members and prepare them to carry out a variety of generalist duties. The rotation will include periods of approximately 15-18 months working in support of training and development; staffing, recruiting, and onboarding; and HR compliance, processes, and projects. The person selected for this position will enter the associate program in the training and development role.

Responsibilities will include the support and coordination of a strong internal training program, including: coordinating the annual curriculum planning process with multiple program leads; evaluating company training needs and analyzing course feedback; preparing annual budget requests and tracking expenditures; supporting Barr’s coaching, mentoring, feedback and assessment programs; maintaining training-related materials on the company’s intranet site; and assisting the training assistant with training event support when needed. Responsibilities will also include leading or participating in training and development-related process improvements and initiatives, acting as a resource for course development and execution, and acting as a back-up for HR associates in other functional areas.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area with coursework relevant to the practice of Human Resources
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and experience providing proactive, high-quality service to internal and external clients
  • Strong team mentality with a willingness to assist where needed to contribute to the group’s success
  • Solid critical-thinking skills and ability to bring forward situationally appropriate solutions to challenges
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to self-direct, prioritize and negotiate multiple responsibilities and client requests, completing tasks with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to modify plans to meet deadlines and client needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • HR internship experience in areas of practice described above
  • Curriculum/course development and/or teaching experience
  • Learning Management System (LMS) experience
  • HRIS and Applicant Tracking System (ATS) experience, including report writing
