Nav has nearly 20 years of experience in process engineering, technology development, and project management. He has broad experience in leading the practical application of technology from concept through commercialization. At Barr, he assists clients with oil sands tailings management and technology development along with engineering and project management for the steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and mineral-processing industries.
Nav's experience includes leading the development and execution of several technology development programs, including an experimental hydrocyclone bitumen extraction and flotation pilot plant and tailings technology pilot programs such as thickening of froth treatment tailings (FTT), conventional thickened tailings, non-segregating tailings (NST), and atmospheric fines drying (AFD) technologies. He has managed and contributed to front-end and detailed engineering for major capital projects and expansions within both mineable and in-situ oil sands, including geotechnical deformation and failure modeling of fine tailings capping.
