Barr is proud to sponsor many engineering programs that foster diversity and inclusion. A recent example is our sponsorship of the new Utah chapter of Women in Mining. Officially launched as a chapter in August 2020, the new Utah chapter shares the Women in Mining program’s vision of pioneering the progression of workplace diversity and the involvement of women in mining careers through education, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
Emily Rose, a geotechnical engineer in our Salt Lake City office, played a crucial role in helping start the Utah chapter and now serves as a committee chair. Working closely with other members of the Utah chapter planning team, Emily assisted in developing its bylaws, committees, and virtual presence. Now that the chapter is established, Emily helps to develop social media content, manage email lists and memberships, and design and update flyers.
