Barr is honored to receive the Above and Beyond Award, which recognizes employers at the local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
Presented to Barr by representatives of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the award recognizes Barr’s support of Jennifer Entwistle, spouse of U.S. Naval Reserve service member Matthew Entwistle, and their family. Learn more about Jennifer’s story on Barr’s Insights blog.
The award was received by Barr’s president and CEO, Ward Swanson, and Barr Vice President Teri Perry, during a ceremony at the Minnesota State Fair. Teri has been instrumental in partnering with Jennifer Entwistle to identify creative employment solutions that worked for her and family during her husband’s extended deployments.
ESGR, a Department of Defense office, promotes cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers. The Above and Beyond award is given in limited numbers by state committees to employers who have had at least one of their supervisors or managers recognized with a Patriot Award and who have signed or agree to sign an ESGR Statement of Support.
