The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency worked with a developer to design and build a 7.2-megawatt solar generation facility to provide power for local homes and businesses in the city of Buffalo. Barr was hired to evaluate route options for a three-mile underground feeder to convey the solar power to the city’s electric substation and design the underground feeder, interconnect switchgear, and substation modifications. We also provided bid administration, construction administration, protective relay programming, and commissioning services. The project was constructed under budget while meeting the in-service date.
